|Long description=Both the German Federal Intelligence Service and foreign intelligence services received specific information on this and passed it on to the Munich police. The warning included suicide bombings at Munich Central Station and Pasing Station. Around 10:30 p.m., Munich police used Facebook and Twitter to call for people to avoid the two train stations, as well as crowds in the city center. Around 11 p.m., city authorities triggered the warning app Katwarn. An increased contingent of police officers closed off the train stations and secured the city center. During the operation, police kept the public updated via social media. At about 1.45 a.m., the Minister of Interior and the Chief of Police gave a press conference, which was broadcast live via Periscope. Eventually, the stations were reopened at around 3.45 a.m. Authorities finally gave the all-clear at noon on January 1.
